MUNISING — Paul G. Truckey of Munising was named “Outstanding Graduating Senior” by the Forest Roberts Theatre. The award is based on significant overall contribution to the theater program during the student’s enrollment at Northern Michigan University. Truckey has appeared on the theatre’s stage in “Cyrano de Bergerac,” “Jacque Brel” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” He was featured as Nick in “Baby,” Tom Jenkins in “Scrooge,” Gary Lejune in “Noises Off” and Hal in “Picnic.” He was assistant director for “Father Mosley” and was a reader for the Forest A. Roberts/Shiras Institute Playwriting Award competition. He also does several local television commercials. The First Nighter’s Club awarded Truckey $200 and engraved his name on a plaque displayed at the theatre for receiving the award.

MARQUETTE — Dogs have again been chasing deer on Presque Isle and surrounding territory, despite the vigilance of Robert Hume, caretaker, and his assistants. Yesterday afternoon a large dog drove a fawn into the water and up on the rocks before sighted by Mr. Hume, who shot the canine.
