Kursk Root Icon visits Ishpeming

ISHHPEMING — The Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God will be visiting St. Jacob of Alaska Orthodox Christian Mission Church (in the first level of Phelps Square, Third Street) on Saturday.

A prayer service (Moleben) will be held at 10 a.m. and the icon will be available for private veneration afterward. This wonder-working icon was of uncertain age when it was discovered face-down by the root of a tree in the city or Kursk, Russia, in the year 1295.

Open to the public. For more information, visit www.marquetteorthodox.org
