L’ANSE — The Baraga County Chamber of Commerce has established scholarship opportunities for Baraga County high school graduates seeking to further their education and training beyond their high school diplomas.

Those graduating from Baraga High School, L’Anse High School, and any resident of Baraga County attending senior year programs (including, but not limited to L’Anse-Baraga Alternative Education), are encouraged to apply.

“GPA will be considered, but it is not the determining factor in our selection of recipients,” said Kristin Kahler of the Scholarship Committee. “We are doing this to help our students gain the skills they need to succeed in the workforce. Maybe they will use their education and talents in Baraga County in the future.”

Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the Keweenaw Bay and Beyond Mix and Mingle on April 21.

Both college enrollment and trade programming are appropriate plans of study for these scholarships. The deadline for applying is April 1. Interested candidates should contact their schools or the Chamber at baragacountychamber@gmail.com for applications.
