MARQUETTE — The Mining Journal set another “first” in Monday’s issue with a two-page advertisement using color. In newspaper parlance, the “double truck” was the first time any Upper Peninsula newspaper had run that size advertisement using color on both pages. It was the announcement of the Speedway-Marathon Petroleum merger, prepared by W.B. Doner and Co., advertising agency, from its Detroit office. Speedway-Marathon, through W. B. Doner and Co., will be using further color advertisements in The Mining Journal.
