Trees to be planted in Negaunee

NEGAUNEE — Negaunee Beautification Committee is going to be using a Marquette Community Foundation grant to plant three trees at the Bernie Rivers Field at 1 p.m. Thursday.

The $2,400 was received to help enhance the appearance and environment of the park. Nagelkirks from Marquette has partnered with the group in this aspect of upgrading the environment of the park.

The Bernie Rivers field is a multiple use neighborhood park for city little league and recently had new multiage playground equipment and a basketball court installed. Several adult fitness stations were also included in the upgrade.

As part of their mission statement the NBC worked with the city of Negaunee’s Park and Recreation Commission and the DPW on this project.

This group is an all volunteer non-profit committee and welcomes anyone wishing to help. More information can be found on the city of Negaunee website, Facebook or by contacting Anna Mattson at annamattson@sbcglobal.net.
