GWINN — Gwinn High School Drama Club members Brian Rice, Tina Amtmann, and Jim Modin dressed up as crash dummies and performed a skit on seatbelt awareness for fourth graders at Gilbert Elementary School Wednesday. A grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to the Marquette County Sheriff Department and Marquette County Health Department made the skit program possible. It will be performed for 1,200 third and fourth graders from throughout the county.

NEGAUNEE — The Fourth of July celebration committee, appointed recently by G. Sherman Collins, president of the Negaunee Chamber of Commerce, has considered the project fully and had decided to postpone the event until sometime in the future when conditions are more favorable. In voting against a celebration this year, the committee have the following reasons: *Any money available for a celebration this year should go towards labor for unemployed. *No money could be collected by public subscription this year from the business men. *Public sentiment throughout the city is opposed to any celebration this year. *Money for the celebration would obviously have to come from a petition made to the city council which we all know needs all funds available for employment of labor.
