Tai Chi group continues sessions

MARQUETTE — A group experience of Tai Chi and Qi Gong will continue to be offered from 5:30 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday in April at the east end of Mattson Park in Marquette for a group experience of Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

These are gentle mind/body practices first developed by Chinese Buddhist monks to improve health and wellness, organizers said. No prior experience is necessary. This practice will take place on the park grounds just below the historic fire bell, regardless of the weather. A hot cup of tea awaits you. These weekly gatherings are a “gift from The Cedar Tree Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion, and the environment,” organizers said in an announcement.

There are no costs or fees for the sessions.

“They are intended to build resilience in both mind and body and to be regarded as one part of our wider community’s response to the current damaging impact of COVID-19,” according to the announcement. Visit www.cedartreeinstitute.org for more information.
