COVID-19 impacts city sessions

MARQUETTE — Due to directives from the state of Michigan, the Marquette City Commission work session today will be held virtually without the public in physical attendance.

The public is invited to view and participate in the meeting electronically. The meeting will be streamed on YouTube starting at 5:15 p.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov. Please note that the live streams may have at least a 20 second delay.

There will be two options for public participation in the meetings: phone conferencing or written comment. There will be two public comment periods during each meeting, one at the beginning and one at the end.

Comments will be limited to three minutes and speakers must give their name and address.

To make a comment over the phone, please call 312-626-6799 and use Meeting I.D. 845 6220 9860.

Written comments will be limited to 500 words. Written comments can be submitted directly to shobbins@marquettemi.gov, written submissions will be accepted until noon today

In addition, today’s Local Development Finance Authority meeting will also be held virtually with board members and staff attending remotely through Zoom video conferencing.

The meeting will also be streamed on the city’s YouTube channel starting at 4 p.m. The YouTube channel is located at www.youtube.com/user/CityofMarquetteGov. Please note that the live stream will have at least a 20 second delay.

Members of the public wishing to make a video comment will need to visit https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81389985565 on a computer or smart device that has a camera.

Members of the public wishing to call in and make a comment over the phone will need to call 312-626-6799 and enter the meeting I.D. 813 8998 5565.

The video and phone conference lobby will open at 3:50 p.m. When participating via video or phone conferencing, you will be placed into a virtual lobby/on-hold until the public comment portions of the meetings are reached.

Once public comment begins, the chairman will go through each person waiting in the lobby one at a time and provide them with the opportunity to address the board.

It is recommended that participants follow the meeting on YouTube to know when the public comment portion is occurring and be ready to make their comment.
