MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host two events to close out its celebration honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

A virtual tour of the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Guest speaker Khayree Williams will discuss truth, racial healing and transformation in higher education at 1 p.m. Friday.

The Jim Crow Museum’s mission is to use objects of intolerance to teach tolerance and promote social justice. The purpose of the tour is for individuals to better understand the nation’s history and engage in a dialogue about a better tomorrow.

The Jim Crow Museum features an extensive collection of racist objects that trace the history of the stereotyping of African Americans. The virtual tour is open to the public. To attend, RSVP by 10 a.m. Tuesday at https://getfoureyes.com/s/4h44Z/.

Guest speaker Williams is the director of Austin Community College’s Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Campus Center.
