U.P. food to be discussed tonight

MARQUETTE – The next “This Is It!” livestream event from the Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition will be held tonight. It features a look into the U.P.’s food system and how farmers and local food advocates are building access to healthy and sustainable food for everyone.

The program, which will be held at 7 p.m. EST today via livestream on Facebook and Zoom, is called “Who’s Hungry? Access to Local Food in the U.P.” and will feature Sarah Monte, outreach director at the Marquette Food Co-op.

Monte has been spreading the word about good food for more 10 years. A certified teacher with degrees in history and political science, Monte also has experience with farming, managing farmers markets, marketing, and curriculum development in the health and local food sectors.
