SENEY — A downstate hunter spent a chilly night in the woods after he got lost tracking a deer. At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, state police received a report that the man, age 25 and of Midland, had become lost while hunting. Police searched the area north of M-28 in Hiawatha Township and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter from Traverse City was on the scene at about 7 a.m. today. The man was found at 8:10 a.m. shortly after his father went up in the helicopter and directed the crew to the area where he and his son had been hunting. Police say he was “wet, cold, and tired” but unhurt. He also told his rescuers he wanted to go back later and retrieve his deer.
