Mural project winners announced

MARQUETTE — On behalf of the Marquette Public Art Commission, the city of Marquette Arts and Culture Division has announced the winning artists and design proposals for the Words to Live and Bike By bike path mural project.

The Words to Live and Bike By project involves the painting of five text-inspired, site-specific murals on the surface of the Holly Greer Bike Path in Marquette. Applicants were asked to submit design proposals that reflect a unique and imaginative interpretation of each word and their accompanying locale.

The winners and their words and locations are as follows:

≤ Michele Tuccini: “Remember” at Founders Landing

≤ Delaney Pickett: “Gratitude” at Marquette Commons

≤ Ben Pawlowski: “Dream” at Mattson Lower Harbor Park

≤ Stella Larkin and Superior Watershed Partnership: “Respect” between Picnic Rocks and McCarty’s Cove

≤ Alan McAnulty: “Hope” at Clark Lambros’ Park

Painting will take place between Monday and Sept. 25, organizers said.
