MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Board of Commissioners is encouraging interested and qualified individuals to apply for vacancies to various boards and commissions.

There is a vacancy on the Marquette County Board of Health for one partial term ending Dec. 31. The board governs the operations of the Marquette County Health Department through its director and acts as the board of appeals for all water, sewer or health permit appeals received by the MCHD.

The deadline for applications is Monday.

The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority has one vacancy for a three-year term ending July 31.

The board implements Brownfield plans, promotes the benefits of the program to encourage revitalization of environmentally stressed areas and more. An application must be on file for appointment. The deadline for applications is July 20.

The Marquette County Community Corrections Advisory Board has two vacancies for two-year terms, one for a citizen at large and one representative of Michigan Works.

The board is responsible for developing a comprehensive community corrections plan and applying for grant funding through the Office of Community Corrections and Michigan Department of Corrections. The deadline for applications is May 18.

There is one vacancy for a three-year term to the Marquette County Solid Waste Authority, which assumes the responsibility, obligations, undertakings and disposition for county municipalities under an interlocal agreement for operation and management of the solid waste management system and facility.

The deadline for applications is June 15.

An application must be on file to be considered for appointment to any of the boards by the Marquette County Board of Commissioners.
