West End Health sets info sessions

ISHPEMING –The West End Health Foundation has recently revised their grant categories and deadlines.

The foundation invites representatives of non-profit organizations to attend an informational session about the new grant process on Monday, Feb. 10.

The first session is scheduled for 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The second session is scheduled from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Both sessions will be held in Room 101 of UPHS Bell Hospital. These sessions will describe changes being made to the Foundation’s grants programs, application process, deadlines, reports and fund distribution.

The WEHF is a conversion 501 c 3 organization formed as a result of the sale of Bell Hospital to LifePoint in 2014. The mission of the organization is advancing health and wellness in the West End community. Funding priorities are health and wellness programs and services provided to residents of Marquette County’s West End.

The foundation considers the West End to be the cities of Ishpeming and Negaunee and the following townships: Champion, Ely, Humboldt, Ishpeming, Michigamme, Negaunee, Republic, Richmond and Tilden. Programs that address chronic disease education, diabetes, asthma, cancer, heart disease, mental health, nutrition, social and emotional support, prenatal health, obesity, physical fitness, health, wellness and under-insured or uninsured individuals have been funded in the past.

The foundation will be announcing a proactive grant cycle that will address a specific topic related to health and wellness for funding in 2020. In addition to the proactive cycle, the Foundation will award grants to the four school districts in the West End, programmatic grants and capital grants.

Registration for either of the two sessions is requested. For additional information or to register for the session, contact Foundation Manager Pam Christensen at wmchfmanager@gmail.com or 906-204-7410.
