UPSET arrests 3 in Houghton Co.

HANCOCK — The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team arrested three Laurium residents who were involved in the distribution of the prescription drug Suboxone on Saturday, according to an UPSET press release.

After a two-month investigation, Benjamin Rippey, 30, was arrested on two counts of delivery of Suboxone; Eugina Rippey, 55, was arrested on three counts of delivery of Suboxone and Angellina Shelp, 44, was arrested on four counts of delivery of Suboxone, according to UPSET.

Each count carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a $10,000 fine, police said.

All three people were arraigned in the 97th District Court in Houghton on Monday and were released on bond pending their next court appearance, a press release states.

UPSET has arrested 11 people for the illegal selling of Suboxone in Houghton County over the last year, officials said.
