Marquette City Band performs

MARQUETTE — Marquette City Band Presents Winter Concert: “Musical Escapades” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Kaufman Auditorium.

All members of the public are invited to the first Marquette City Band concert of 2020. There is no admission charge but donations are encouraged. Following the concert, all are welcome to join the band for a reception in the Graveraet gymnasium.

Marquette City Band Director Dr. Stephen Grugin has programmed a wide variety of pieces on the concert that include the following: “To the Summit!” by Robert W. Smith; “Echoes from the Battlefield” by Darren W. Jenkins; “Dance Intermezzo, Opus 45, No. 2” by Jean Sibelius; “Afterlife” by Rossano Galante; “Symphony on Themes of John Philip Sousa” by Ira Hearshen; “A Trombone Family Reunion” by Henry Fillmore, featuring the trombone section; “Beguine for Band” by Glenn Osser; and Square from “American Dances” by Robert W. Smith.
