UPSET arrests two suspects

TRIMOUNTAIN — Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on Friday arrested two people on delivery of methamphetamine charges.

UPSET said detectives served a search warrant with the assistance of the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team at a residence in Trimountain at 5:30 a.m. Friday.

After a two-month investigation regarding the purchase of meth from two suspects, detectives and the emergency support team executed a search warrant along Sixth Avenue. During the search of the residence, detectives seized additional meth, prescription drugs, money and other evidence of drug distribution.

Also seized were a scale, packaging, electronics and prescription of drugs. Buy money also was recovered from a controlled buy that occurred on Wednesday.

The suspects, a 36-year-old male and a 34-year-old female, were arrested on the charges and lodged in the Houghton County Jail.

The names of the suspects are being withheld pending their arraignment. The investigation is ongoing.

UPSET was assisted by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, the Houghton City Police Department and the Michigan State Police Calumet Post K-9 Unit.
