United Way to host planned giving seminar Wednesday

Andrew Rickauer

MARQUETTE — Have you ever thought about being charitable and giving, but you weren’t really sure where to start? The United Way of Marquette County Board of Directors will host an Estate and Planned Giving Seminar at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Heritage Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

“For the most part, people want to be active in their community and they want to give back,” said Andrew Rickauer, executive director for the United Way of Marquette County. “There are a lot of charitable giving questions that need to be answered and information given to better help individuals plan. United Way serves our local community and is an ideal position to bring everyone together for this talk.”

There will be presentations by Doug Gordon, a financial adviser with Edward Jones; Ken Seavoy, an attorney with Kendricks, Bordeau, Keefe, Seavoy & Larsen PC; Tanner Wagner with insurance company Vast; and Don Grisham, a certified public accountant.

“I hope people gain a better understanding of how life insurance can become a part of their plan to leave a lasting legacy, whether it be for their family or for a charitable organization they are passionate about and wish to support,” said Wagner, a risk adviser at Vast.

The presenters will each speak for five to 10 minutes about the best way to give without sacrificing your lifestyle. At the conclusion of the presentations there will be a question-and-answer opportunity for attendees.

“I hope that people will leave with a head full of ideas and options of how they can better structure assets and give back to their community,” Rickauer said. “Furthermore, I hope that when they leave they take action on the new information that they have.”

Seating is limited, but reservations may be made by calling 906-226-8171.
