Health grants applications open

MARQUETTE — The West End Health Foundation is accepting competitive grant applications for its fall 2019 cycle.

Applications are being accepted for programs and services targeted to residents of the West End of Marquette County. Additional information about the West End Health Foundation and an application form is available at the foundation’s website www.westendhf.org

Areas of concern are chronic disease education, health, wellness, mental health, nutrition, physical fitness, social and emotional support. Programs addressing education for diabetes, asthma, arthritis, cancer, heart disease, prenatal health, dementia, obesity, suicide prevention and other health-related issues qualify for WEHF grant funding.

Grants are only awarded to organizations with an IRS 501(c)(3) or other nonprofit designation, governmental units and school districts.

Generally, an organization may only receive grant funds once in a calendar year. In special instances, multi-year programs might be awarded grants.

The range of WEHF competitive grants range from $500 to $10,000. Sponsorships are also available for programs requesting $500 or less.

Competitive grant cycles are set by the WEHF Board of Directors based on available funding. Generally, the WEHF accepts grant applications for the spring grant cycle on or before April 1. Fall grant cycle applications are due on or before Oct. 1.

Additional information about the WEHF grants program can be obtained from Pam Christensen, foundation manager, at wmchfmanager@gmail.com or 906-204-7410.
