Motorcyclist collides with deer

IRON MOUNTAIN — A man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle collided with a deer on U.S. 2, according to the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post.

The incident occurred when the driver of the motorcycle, a 62-year-old man, was westbound on U.S. 2 and a deer ran into the road. The man was “unable to avoid the deer” and crashed, police said in a press release.

Immediately following the initial crash, a car which was traveling eastbound in the same area, also struck a deer. However, the driver of the car was uninjured in the crash, according to police.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Dickinson County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Michigan State Police was assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, Beacon Ambulance and LR Vincent Towing.

Police could not be reached for information on the time and date of the incident before the Journal’s press time.
