MARQUETTE — One woman was transported to UP Health System-Marquette after falling at Picnic Rocks in Marquette’s Shiras Park Wednesday, according to the Marquette City Police Department.

The woman slipped while walking on the rocks along the parking lot, hitting her head and falling into the water, according to police.

The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, with the Marquette City Police Department, UP Health System EMS and an off-duty Michigan State Police trooper responding, police said.

The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries but the extent of her injuries and her status at this time are unknown, police said this morning.
