Sawyer to offer TSA PreCheck

MARQUETTE — Marquette County’s Sawyer International Airport joins the more than 200 airports and 67 airlines nationwide to offer TSA PreCheck beginning Monday.

TSA PreCheck is a U.S. government program that allows travelers deemed low risk by the Transportation Security Administration to pass through an expedited security screening at certain U.S. airports.

Sawyer Airport Manager Duane DuRay said in a press release that the added benefit will save passengers time and stress during departure.

Officials said Sawyer is the first airport in the Upper Peninsula to offer the service, which provides priority screening for passengers in addition to not having to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets.
