Man sentenced in 2018 homicide case

MARQUETTE — A Mackinac County man pled guilty Friday to second degree murder in connection to an April 2018 death of a Moran man.

Edward Lawrence Tallman III, 35, also of Moran pled guilty to homicide murder in the second degree in the death of Larry Biglow, 61, and was sentenced to 43 to 80 years in prison, other charges in the case were dismissed, according to a Mackinac County Sheriff’s office press release.

“Deputies worked to make sure this case was thoroughly investigated and resolved, and although we will never forget the tragedy that occurred, it is our hope that the family of the victim can continue to heal now that the court case is concluded,” the release states.

The incident occurred on April 27, 2018, officials say, when a sheriff’s deputy and the Michigan State Police were called to a Moran residence to investigate a suspicious person.

The suspect, later identified as Tallman, entered the home without permission through a back door with blood on his clothes. At one point, the release states, Tallman began taking off his clothes and walked outside the residence.

“During the subsequent investigation, it was learned that he possibly had committed a homicide at a nearby residence,” the release states. “The deputy trooper checked the residence and found a deceased man inside.”

The Mackinac County Medical Examiner and the State Police Crime Lab assisted deputies with the investigation.

No other information will be released in the case, officials say.
