Great Lakes Rodeo this weekend

MARQUETTE — The 14th annual Great Lakes Rodeo takes place Friday through Sunday at the Marquette County Fairgrounds.

In advance, tickets are $10 for adults per day or $20 for the weekend, and $5 for children or $10 for the weekend.

At the gate, tickets are $12 for adults and $22 for the weekend pass and $7 for children and $12 for a weekend pass for children ages 6-12.

The gates open at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Miss Great Lakes Rodeo Pageant at 5 p.m., with barrel racing at 6 p.m. and youth rodeo practice at 7 p.m.

Saturday, the gates open at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. start for round robin team roping and breakaway roping. A kickball tournament begins at 11 a.m. as does a Battle of the Bands.

A noon, the Jack Pot Speed Show starts, with the youth rodeo at 1 p.m. and the first rodeo performance at 7 p.m. A barn dance begins at 9:30 p.m.

Dads are admitted for free on Sunday when accompanying the family. Also Sunday, the theme is Paint the Stands Pink for Breast Cancer, with gates opening at 8 a.m., round robin team roping and breakaway roping at 9 a.m. Then, Cowboy Church is at 10 a.m., with the kickball finals at 11 a.m., pony pulls at noon and the second rodeo performance at 3 p.m.
