Cleveland Avenue work underway

MARQUETTE — Oberstar Inc. has started to remove partial sections of curbing and is proceeding with sanitary sewer lateral replacements on Cleveland Avenue in Marquette, from McClellan Avenue to the west end of the road.

This work is the prerequisite for the milling and overlaying on the street. The work will be done with intermediate road closures and the “public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all warning signs, lane shifts and other traffic control measures,” city officials said.

This phase of the project is expected to last two weeks. Additional announcements will be forthcoming for the mill and overlay activities.

Cleveland Avenue was also to be closed today to through traffic between McClellan Avenue and Lincoln Avenue for a water valve replacement. That project is expected to be completed by the end of the day, city officials said.
