MARQUETTE — A “Shout-out of Support” in favor of the program, 10 Cents a Meal for School Kids and Farms, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday outside the Commons along Third Street in Marquette.

The state pilot program provides match funding through Michigan’s K-12 education budget to schools to purchase Michigan produce and dry beans.

The gathering is to bring awareness of the program and the need to increase funding to $2 million and expand program eligibility statewide.

Alex Palzewicz of Taste the Local Difference will share a brief background of the project. There will be posters to sign, plus the event will go live on Facebook.

The event is sponsored by the Upper Peninsula Food Exchange.
