MARQUETTE — One person was cited after a three-vehicle personal injury crash occurred Monday along U.S. 41 West near Northwoods Drive in Marquette Township, according to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred when a 2015 Chevrolet, driven by Shirley Evelyn Ford, 93, of Negaunee was stopped on a private drive between Lowes and GFS, then proceeded to turn left in to oncoming traffic. While attempting to cross into the eastbound lane of U.S. 41, Ford side swiped a westbound Lincoln operated by Mary Ann Carriere, 78, of Marquette.

Ford’s vehicle then continued along the road, colliding head-on with a Ford pickup truck operated by Melissa Anne Salminen, 41, of Marquette.

Salminen was transported to UP Health System-Marquette by Marquette Township EMS, while Carriere was uninjured.

Ford was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way. She complained of minor injury and sought her own treatment.
