Caspian man arrested by UPSET

CASPIAN — A 22-year-old Caspian man was arrested by detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team Monday for charges related to manufacturing methamphetamine.

The arrested occurred after a search warrant was issued for a residence along Lennox Street in Caspian after several weeks of investigation by UPSET and the Caspian Police Department. The investigation began after police obtained evidence of meth manufacture. When the search warrant was executed at the residence by the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team detectives located “numerous components used to manufacture meth along with finished meth product,” an UPSET press release states.

The 22-year-old Caspian man, who was the homeowner, was arrested at the residence and lodged at the Iron County Jail upon several felony charges for manufacturing meth, UPSET officials said.

UPSET was assisted by the Caspian Police Department, the Iron County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Caspian/Gaastra Fire Department.
