Arrest made in missing meds case

MARQUETTE — A woman has been arrested in connection to 75 vials of fentanyl and 75 oxycodone tablets that were missing from UP Health System-Marquette, according to the Marquette City Police.

Heather Peterson, 30, of Marquette, was arrested around 11 a.m. Friday on warrants for larceny in a building and possession of controlled substance issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.

The charges, which are both four-year felonies, stem from an investigation started by the Marquette City Police Department on April 16, as it was reported that 75 vials of fentanyl and 75 oxycodone tablets were missing from UP Health System-Marquette, where Peterson was an employee. Police were able to recover 72 vials of fentanyl.

Peterson was lodged at the Marquette County Jail upon the charges. Her bond was set at 10% of $50,000 on each count.
