MARQUETTE — Spring along the south shore of Lake Superior means fish flocking to river mouths as ice and snow dissipate; and anglers are usually close by. Three coho cohorts and shore fishermen, Leonard Novotny of Marquette along with Bruce Cran and Mike Taylor, both of Negaunee, were in pursuit of coho salmon and anything else that happened by off the mouth of the Carp River on Monday. The pleasant weather of late is being replaced by cooler and wetter conditions into the weekend, forecasters predict, but it won’t be long until all waters are open to fishing.
