MARQUETTE — Tuulikki Sayring has been promoted to assistant vice president/manager of business development at D&N Savings Bank. She now is responsible for establishing and maintaining new business contacts for D&N’s products and services among local businesses and customers. Sayring began at D&N in 1976 as a loan processing clerk. She was promoted to assistant branch manager of the Marquette Branch in 1985. A native of Finland, Sayring came to the U.S. in 1966 and became a U.S. citizen in 1972. She is a graduate of Ishpeming High School and has completed course work at Northern Michigan University. She lives in Ishpeming with her husband, Peter. She is president of the Marquette Business and Professional Women, treasurer of the Superior Home Builders Association, secretary of the Marquette County Democratic Party, a board member of the Great Lakes Training Center Association and of the Easter Seal Association and a member of Commerce Commercial and tourism committee.

60 years ago

NEGAUNEE — Members of the Negaunee Masonic Lodge will sponsor their annual dance and card party Saturday night in the Negaunee Elks lodgerooms. Cards will be played starting at 8, with dancing scheduled to get under way to the music of Archie Arcand’s orchestra at 9:30. Lunch will be served by a committee working under direction of Lawrence Campbell. Special door prizes will be awarded. All Masons, members of the Eastern Stars and their escorts from Negaunee, Ishpeming and Marquette are invited. Proceeds from the party will be used to help defray expenses of the Negaunee Chapter, Order of DeMolay, at the Upper Peninsula DeMolay conclave this evening.
