MARQUETTE — One person was injured and one person was cited after a two-vehicle personal injury crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. in Marquette Township, according to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred on U.S. 41 at County Road HQ when an eastbound 2016 Ford station wagon was stopped at a yellow light in the U.S. 41 turn lane to County Road HQ and was struck by another eastbound vehicle.

The other vehicle involved in the accident, a 2018 Chevrolet station wagon, had been preparing to turn north on to County Road HQ when it slid into the the Ford on the icy road.

The driver of the Ford, Tracie Dietz, 33, of Negaunee, was treated by EMS personnel from the Marquette Township Fire Department and was transported to UP Health System – Marquette for “non-life threatening injuries,” police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Kristin Marana, 35, was not injured and was cited for violation of basic speed limit, according to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police and the Marquette Township Fire Department.
