County Board to meet Tuesday

MARQUETTE –The Marquette County Board of Commissioners will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in room 231 of the Henry A. Skewis Annex.

The board will receive a Michigan State University Extension update during privileged comment and discuss two action items at Tuesday’s meeting, according to board documents.

The commission’s first action item regards the reassignment of the lease for BWI North America Inc., a company that leases land and buildings west of Sawyer International Airport’s runway to perform winter testing on automobiles. According to board documents, BWI North America has assigned their interest to BWI Chassis Dynamics Inc., effective Dec. 1 and has requested that Marquette County reassigns the company’s lease to BWI Chassis Dynamics Inc. Staff recommendation is to approve the lease reassignment.

The second action item to be discussed Tuesday is a county civil counsel update. The board previously discussed a change to the county’s civil counsel position at the Nov. 7 meeting of the board, as Steve Pence, the county’s current civil counsel, indicated that he will be leaving the position at the end of the year.
