LeSage wins scholarship from MCMCFC

ISHPEMING — The Marquette County Medical Care Facility has announced that Halie LeSage has received a 2018 Gary Easton Scholarship Award from the Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council.

LeSage has been a licensed practical nurse at the facility since October. She is furthering her education at Bay de Noc Community College and hopes to become a registered nurse.

“We are proud to see Halie honored for her academic achievements and we wish her well on her college studies,” said Jerry Hubbard, MCMCF administrator, in a press release. “We are pleased that our association with the Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council has made the scholarship available to our employees and their family members.”

Recipients of the Easton Scholarship must be employed at a Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council member facility for at least one year or be the spouse or child of an employee, and be majoring in a health or human services field of study at a junior or senior level with a minimum 3.0 grade point average or accepted into a certified nursing program. The applicant’s extracurricular activities and community service experiences are also taken into consideration.

Since 2000, MCMCFC has awarded more than $124,000 in scholarships benefiting some 144 students.
