5 arrested in Fair Avenue meth bust

MARQUETTE — Five people were arrested on various drug charges relating to maintaing a drug house and probation violations Tuesday after detectives assigned to the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, or UPSET, conducted an investigation regarding the sale of crystal methamphetamine in Marquette County, according to UPSET.

During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the Fair Avenue residence in Marquette Township and detectives seized approximately a half ounce of crystal meth, as well as “evidence of drug distribution,” according to the release.

Detectives also located a seven-year-old child in the residence, who was turned over to family members.

Additional charges are expected to arise, pending a review by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the release.

Names of the suspects are being withheld pending their arraignment and the investigation remains on-going, the release states.

UPSET Detectives were assisted by the Michigan State Police 8th District Emergency Support Team and officers from the Marquette City Police Department, according to the release.
