Scrap tire collection Wednesday

MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette has received a 2018 Scrap Tire Cleanup Program Grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. The city of Marquette has partnered with the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority, or MCSWMA, for this collection. They will be on site at the Compost/Rubbish site to collect tires delivered and haul them to the landfill for processing.

Community residents are welcome to bring their scrap tires to the Compost/Rubbish site located at 1415 Pioneer Rd. on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Individual residents may bring as many personal tires as they would like. Car and truck tires that are 22.5 inches in diameter or less (with or without rims) will be accepted as part of the program. Larger tires, tractor tires and tires on split rims will not be accepted at this site. See the MCSWMA website www.mcswma.com for more information on disposing of these types of tires.

For any questions, call the MCSWMA at 249-4125 or the City of Marquette Public Works Department at 228-0444.
