MARQUETTE — A dump truck stolen sometime Sunday night or this morning was recovered by police early today, said Marquette police. The 1969 Mack dump truck — owned by David Zorza of 197 Hampton St., Marquette — was stolen from his residence sometime between 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 1:15 this morning, officers said. The keys had been left in the vehicle, police added.
At about 1:30 a.m., officers discovered the vehicle in the ditch on Pioneer Road, about a mile west of Altamont Street. An unknown driver eastbound on Pioneer Street struck a power pole with the truck, lost control of the vehicle and drove into the ditch, police said. The truck received damage to its right front bumper and a mirror, said officials who have no suspects, but continue to investigate the incident.

ISHPEMING — Anthony Gagliardi, proprietor of the Roosevelt Bar on Division Street, defended his request for 24-hour food license. In a letter to the Ishpeming City Council, read by City Clerk Wilfred Brewer, he stated reasons for his request, made in March, for a 24-hour food license at his place of business.
There currently is no such license in the city. The last one was issued to Frank Valenti, who ran the Napoli Restaurant.
