Marquette compost site closed

MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette’s compost drop-off site located at 1415 Pioneer Road will be closed today and the household rubbish site will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day. The compost site will reopen Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and the household rubbish site will be open on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m., or earlier if capacity is met.

Foster Home Awareness run today

MARQUETTE — From 8 a.m. to noon today, the Foster Home Awareness 5K Run will be held in Marquette.

This event will begin at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, and participants will proceed north along the multiuse pathway to a turnaround point between Fair Avenue and Wright Street. They will return along the same route and finish in Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

The event is to occur exclusively on the multiuse pathway and participants are to follow the rules of the road; however, the public is asked to be aware of and considerate toward people crossing the street.
