Cambensy to host ‘coffee hours’
MARQUETTE — Rep. Sara Cambensy, D-Marquette, will hold “coffee hours” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday at the Marquette Township Community Center, 1000 Commerce Drive. Joining her will be Marquette Township Supervisor Lyn Durant.
From 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 20, Cambensy will host a school safety town hall discussion at the Ishpeming High School Peterson Auditorium, at 319 E. Division St. Others expected to attend include Ishpeming Public Schools Superintendent Carrie Meyer, Ishpeming police Chief Steve Snowaert, Ishpeming teacher and coach Jeff Olson, Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt, Michigan State Police Capt. John Halpin and Marquette County Prosecutor Matt Wiese.
9.6 miles of M-95 to be rebuilt
CHANNING — The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $3.7 million to reconstruct 9.6 miles of M-95 from south of Byers Road north to the Michigamme River through the village of Channing.
The work starts Monday and includes milling and resurfacing, crushing and shaping of old pavement, drainage improvements and a temporary run-around to accommodate nearby railroad crossing replacement.
This project has a five-year materials and workmanship pavement warranty, an MDOT press release states.
The estimated completion date is early September.
