Household rubbish site open

MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette’s Household Rubbish site, located at 1415 Pioneer Road, is now open for the season. The site is intended for city residents paying the solid waste fee to dispose of household items too large for curbside pickup. The daily capacity of this site is regulated by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and once capacity is met, the site will close.

To accommodate residents, the site will now be open an additional day each week. The new hours of operation are Mondays from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. (with the exception of hazardous waste collection nights, when the site is not open for rubbish drop-off) and the second Saturday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Marquette County Landfill will be conducting a household hazardous waste collection one Wednesday per month at this site. The household rubbish site will not be open those evenings. Visit www.mcswma.com for a 2018 household hazardous waste collection schedule. Residents looking to use the site must bring a current water bill showing a solid waste fee payment and an ID to enter the site.
