Traffic fatality in Marinette County

MARQUETTE — Marinette County has recorded its first traffic fatality for 2018, according to Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

The fatality stemmed from a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 141 in Amberg on March 16, with multiple people involved in the accident transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

All people were treated and released on March 16.

However, Nancy L. Ross, 66, of Pembine, a passenger in a vehicle involved in the crash, collapsed and was unresponsive that evening after she was treated and released.

The Pembine Rescue Squad was paged to the residence, but Ross died at the scene.

An autopsy revealed that Ross died as a result of internal injuries that she sustained in the crash, according to officials.

According to a press release, the sheriff’s office investigation has deemed Ross’s death a traffic fatality.
