Dogs killed in Humboldt Twp. fire

MARQUETTE — A fire at a Humboldt Township home on County Road FX was reported at 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Humboldt Township Fire Department officials. Three dogs were killed in the fire and the home was deemed a total loss.

The home’s residents, Holli Stimac, Tyler LaPointe and their infant son, were not home during the fire.

“We had been trying to spread the word that they had lost all of their belongings and they have a young child, which made things very difficult,” Steve Bartman of Humboldt Township Fire Department said.

Bartman said the department has set up an account for donations at TruNorth Credit Union in Ishpeming to help the family after their loss.

Officials said home was completely engulfed in flames when they responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation by officials.
