Marquette woman pleads guilty to felony drug charges

MARQUETTE — Stephanie Dawn Ray of Marquette on Thursday pleaded guilty in Marquette County Circuit Court to a felony drug charge of possession of cocaine, heroin or another narcotic, less than 25 grams, and a misdemeanor charge of attempted assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer.

The felony is punishable by four years jail and/or a $25,000 fine, while the misdemeanor is punishable by one year and/or $1,000.

Ray, 34, was initially charged with delivery/manufacture of cocaine, less than 50 grams; possession of marijuana; possession of cocaine, less than 25 grams; tampering with evidence; a count of assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer, as well as a count of attempted assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer.

Ray’s charges stem from a Dec. 31 arrest, when drugs were discovered in the vehicle she was driving following a traffic stop on Grove Street near South McClellan Avenue in Marquette, according to a Marquette Police Department press release.

Court officials said Ray has been released on a personal recognizance bond. According to court documents, Ray’s sentencing date was scheduled for April 13.
