Baraga Ave. construction goes on

MARQUETTE — Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, Baraga Avenue will be closed from Seventh Street to a point 500 feet west, to allow for the reconstruction of the street and underground utilities.

This is the third phase of the local streets portion of the Marquette Hospital Transportation Improvements Project. This phase is scheduled to be substantially complete by mid-August.

Baraga Avenue will be closed to through traffic from McClellan Avenue to Altamont Street. The detour will be by means of McClellan Avenue to Washington Street to Fifth Street.

The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction, detour and advisory signing. Pedestrian access will be maintained as much as possible for the residents in this area.

A phasing schematic can be accessed at the city of Marquette website under the Marquette Hospital Transportation Improvements Project link at www.mqtcty.org.

Bacco Construction Company is the general contractor for this project.

The city of Marquette asks you for your patience during the construction process.
