Fundraisers set for crash victims

MARQUETTE — Two fundraisers are planned to help the two girls and the young father injured in a Baraga County three-vehicle traffic accident March 8.

Skarlett Swartz, 5, Peyton Thomas, 7, and Ryan Thomas, 32, were injured in the accident which happened on U.S. 41 near Canyon Falls.

The girls are at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, part of the University of Michigan system in Ann Arbor, while Ryan Thomas is a patient at UP Health System-Marquette.

A Benefit For Skarlett and Peyton will be held at the Ojibwa Senior Citizen Hall from 3-7 p.m. Thursday. It will be a spaghetti dinner and the cost is $8. There will be raffles and baskets and also take-out meals. Call these numbers for any orders or questions: 236-2472 or 201-2066.

Another fundraiser is set for Marquette on Saturday, April 8. The Peyton-Skarlett-Ryan Benefit will be at Marquette Mountain from 7-11 p.m. that date. Further plans are forthcoming.
