MARQUETTE– Thanksgiving saw the second blizzard of the year, with some places in Marquette County getting 12-16 inches of snow according to the National Weather Service.
The blizzard saw many businesses close early, such as the cannabis Marquette County dispensary Fire Station and governmental workforce reductions such as with the Marquette County Courts.
“All Court Hearing and court appointments are canceled on Wednesday November 26, 2025,” said a press release from Brian Hummel, director of Emergency Management. “Canceled hearings and appointments will be rescheduled. Marquette County offices will remain open but only employees need to report to work.”
Area schools closed for the blizzard across the Upper Peninsula, including Northern Michigan University. Many homes in Marquette County also saw power outages with a total 2,098 out of 35,233 tracked meters without power; as of 2 p.m. yesterday, 131 residents were out of power across the Upper Peninsula according to UPPCO’s Outage Center webpage.
Some travelers got stuck in the ditch, and some even on the road which saw police officers helping push cars up hills. This is the second blizzard of the year, more are guaranteed to come and people will need to travel during these storms.
