Board to discuss Bruce resignation

BRUCE

GWINN — Brandon Bruce, superintendent of Gwinn Area Community Schools, will resign effective June 30, with the GACS Board of Education to hold a special meeting at 7:30 tonight in the Gwinn Middle/High School Library to accept the resignation and discuss the search for his replacement.

Bruce became GACS superintendent in 2021.

The school district is discussing creating a central K-12 campus, but no formal decision has been made yet.

Bruce, a member of the Gwinn High School Class of 1990 and former principal of Hart High School, explained his resignation on the GACS Facebook page, noting that he was recently offered a job with Hart Public Schools, located downstate.

“I had not been looking to leave but cannot pass up the opportunity that was offered,” Bruce wrote. “It was not an easy decision but the best one for my family.

“I am proud to have had the opportunity to work for GACS as superintendent and appreciate the staff and board of education. We have made some great progress in the district and there is a bright future ahead. I hope the work and focus of the bond proposal does not slow down. This is what is needed for this district and will support the educational needs of the students for the next three decades.

“I want nothing but the best for Gwinn Area Community Schools.”
