MARQUETTE — With painting, cookies and lemonade for all, the Lake Superior Art Association’s 70th birthday celebration and the 62nd Art on the Rocks celebration was full of smiles and reminiscing.

The Friday event included three people who participated in the first event 62 years ago: Larry Fisk, Marvin Zender and the original event organizer, Militza Georgevich.

“I’m delighted to be here, this is a highlight,” Georgevich said. “Nature has provided and it’s gorgeous today. It’s very nice to see so many of my old students who called me Mrs. G. Seeing some of the oldsters (original Art on the Rocks attendees) and even some of my students, who are retired now. When they said that I thought, ‘Oh I am old.'”

All three of the original “Art on the Rockers” were constantly surrounded by friends from the past eager to talk to them Friday as they all celebrated the last 70 years of LSAA and look forward to the next 70 years of both LSAA and the 62-year-old Art On the Rocks.
