ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP — One person is dead after a fire at a residence in Ishpeming Township early Monday morning.

A spokesperson for the Ishpeming Township Police Department confirmed that it was dispatched to a residential fire at 185 Silver St. at around 3:30 a.m. Monday

Firefighters quickly got the fire under control, but one person was found dead in the structure.

The Michigan State Police and the Ishpeming Township Police Department are investigating the fire.

The name of the person who died has not been released.

The Ishpeming Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by MSP – Negaunee Post, Ishpeming City Fire Department, Marquette County Rescue 131 and Bell Emergency Medical Services.
