Police: 2 dead, 7 injured in 3-vehicle Escanaba crash
ESCANABA — Two people are dead following a Thanksgiving Day accident in Escanaba, Escanaba Public Safety reported.
At about 5:49 p.m. Thursday, Escanaba Public Safety responded to the 1600 block of North Lincoln Road on a report of a multiple-vehicle personal-injury accident with entrapment.
Due to the location and severity of the accident scene, traffic was detoured and North Lincoln Road was closed in that area for about four hours, police said. During that time, Michigan State Police reconstructed the accident scene.
The traffic accident resulted in two fatalities, while another seven occupants of the three-vehicle crash were transported to medical facilities by Rampart EMS or Guardian Flight, police said.
The names of the victims were not released pending notification of family.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted during the incident by Delta County Central Dispatch, the Michigan State Police, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Rampart EMS, Guardian Flight, Ford River Fire Department, Escanaba Township Fire Department, Delta County Victim Services Unit, Delta County Road Commission and Gene’s Towing & Recovery.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
